CREATIVITY COACH

Jo Sopko has been in private practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for the past 20 years.  She has a wide background in counseling psychology and works with children, adults and couples.

ADULTS: I work with issues of loss, stress, anxiety, depression, abuse, sex addiction, spiritual guidance, and developmental life changes.

CHILDREN
: I invite their stories that may be troubled due to emotional and academic issues.
I address issues of divorce, traumatic losses, abuse, adoption, bullying and low self-esteem through play therapy, art therapy and sandplay.

COUPLES: My passion is to help the couple find a yet unknown way to a compassionate, loving, open communicative relationship; to become vulnerable to the pain and wounds of each other's soul.

In every client relationship I am committed to creating a non-judgmental, safe environment that lends itself to a journey of discovery and curiosity.

My approach is one of open heart, kindness and depth.

I am an expressive art & drama therapist, dedicated to the inquiry and exploration of the client's life as we travel together along the therapeutic path.

Jo is on the faculty at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) as Clinical Supervisor for the Expressive Arts Therapy Program and as director of self-revelatory student thesis performances in their Drama Therapy program.  She is also a Trauma Specialist at Homeward Bound of Marin where she specializes in working with families and children affected by homelessness, sexual abuse, abandonment, violence, substance abuse and loss.

Jo has presented at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and at various national conferences of Expressive Arts and Drama Therapy. She uses mindfulness practice and meditation in her work and has a private practice in Marin and San Francisco.
